FAQ AND OUR POLICY
WHAT DO I NEED TO DRIVE PONTOON BOAT?
To drive a boat yourself you will need to have a valid Driver’s License and sufficient boating experience. If born ON or AFTER January 1st, 1988 you must have a valid Florida Boaters Safety ID Card. You may obtain a FREE temporary card online at http://www.boatus.org/florida/
WHERE CAN I GO WITH PONTOON BOAT?
You should stay on the Intracoastal canals at all times. DO NOT TAKE THE PONTOON IN THE OCEAN! You can take the pontoon North all the way up to Fort Lauderdale or South down to Brickell Key, Downtown Miami, and South Beach Area. You do not have access to the Port of Miami.
Elliot Key and Nixon Sandbar (Key Biscayne) are OUT of the approved zone for our boat rental.
Please check our Route Map and Suggested Destinations page of places to explore.
CAN I TAKE PONTOON BOAT OUT TO THE OCEAN?
NO, the boat can not be taken out on the ocean under any circumstances. Intracoastal only.
CAN I BRING FOOD AND DRINKS ON BOARD?
Yes, you can bring as much food and drinks as you wish. We provide a cooler and ice to store your beverages and snacks. If you bring alcoholic drinks, you must use plastic cups and the designated driver is prohibited from drinking.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
All Sunny Miami Boat Rentals purchases are final and nonrefundable, except for severe weather conditions. In case of severe weather conditions, your purchase can be refunded or your reservation may be rescheduled. Sunny Miami Boat Rentals reserve the right to cancel any reservations with or without notice due to bad weather (hurricane, rain, wind) or mechanical issues. Changes to your reservation may be made no later than 7 days before the date of the rental.
WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE FOR MY BOAT RENTAL?
Customer must be present at the dock at least 15 minutes before a scheduled trip, to allow enough time to complete the necessary paperwork required for all boat rentals. Please be aware that the time will start at the scheduled time reserved. For example: if customer reserves a boat for 11 am – 5 pm, the time will start at 11 am. The boat should be back at 5 pm. If you bring the boat back more than 15 minutes late, you will be billed for an additional hour. We will not provide any refund if the boat is returned earlier.
ARE THERE ANY ADDITIONAL FEES EXCEPT FOR THE RENTAL FEE AND CAPTAIN'S FEE?
A 7% Florida sales tax on rentals will be calculated automatically during the booking process.
HOW DOES YOUR SECURITY DEPOSIT WORK?
$500 damage deposit is required for each reservation without a captain. Upon both the dropping off and return, the boat will get inspected for damage. In case any damage occurs, the deposit will be applied toward the cost of the repairs. If the cost of damages exceeds the damage deposit, the renter is fully liable for the remainder of the costs.
If the boat is returned without any damages, the deposit is fully refunded. The most common damages in the Miami area are propeller related, caused by operating in shallow waters. Following all instructions, operating carefully and maintaining safe distances as well as water depths will ensure a successful rental with no incidents.
DO WE HAVE TO WEAR LIFE JACKETS?
For all Miami boat rentals, life jackets are provided and required to be on board. Kids 12 and younger must wear a life jacket at all times.
DO WE NEED NAUTICAL CHARTS?
Our boats are equipped with marine GPS with charts. We also recommend downloading a Free Navionics Boating App on your Smartphone for instant access to your location, routes, and depth, as well as Know Wake App to acquire local speed limit zones.
DO WE HAVE TO CLEAN THE BOAT BEFORE THE RETURN?
Yes! We highly encourage you to take care of the boat during the rental as if it is your own. Please return the boat in the same condition as you got it – gather all garbage in the garbage can and in case of any big mess, please clean it up! Otherwise, we will have to impose a $40 cleaning fee. Thank you for your courtesy!
